    Hello all,

One of my online editors is having a problem with DaVinci Resolve that I can’t seem to figure out. The problem is that he can render about 10 mins of a timeline and then it will just stop rendering. Here is his e-mail to Blackmagic:

“I’m running DaVinci Resolve 7.1 on a MacPro Quad 2.66Ghz, Nvidia GeForce GTZ 285, and a Decklink HD Extreme 3D card+. We purchased the DaVinci system a few months ago and since then i’ve worked on a few projects. I’ve noticed that the timeline never fully renders out. I have the Render Cache Options set to Cache A, so everything should render. I also have the Render Cache set to maximum of 1,000,000 frame limit under the settings tab.

In every project the Resolve only seems to render approximately 10 minutes of the timeline, and then just stops. If I force it to render another section by playing back the timeline, the previously rendered section will lose its render and will need to be re-rendered. Are there other options/settings I need to check? This is a big hindrance as our clients expect to watch down a finished color correction that’s fully rendered”

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

The Render cache feature is a little buggy and you would be advised to not use it at the moment. Leave the cache mode switched off and render at the end of the job so you clients can see playback. Alternatively you could use the Proxy mode which should allow you to see smooth playback without rendering at all, as long as you don’t mind viewing lower resolution images.
