We’re starting to do more and more 3D grading work and are currently using an active shutter type display to monitor 3D. I’m curious if anyone has any experience with the JVC Passive Displays? I know there are better 3D passive choices out there but since 2D work is still 95% of the grading we do I’m looking at a economical passive display since the active shutter tech after a few hours makes me want to curl up and go to sleep. Any thoughts?

    JVC 463D. Around $5-6000.

It’s the most common 3d passive monitor out here in Hollywood for edit bays. It’s a balance of quality and cost. Very good viewing at off axis angles….and yes, passive. Does 2D as well.

You’d probably have to use the HDMl input, as there are only HDMI and analog inputs. I’d recommend an AJA Hi5-3G to get your SDI signals into HDMI, as well as deal with those pesky 23.98 oddball frames rates.

I’d like to see it in action.. I graded my last 3d project on the panasonic vt25.
For 3D I have been using:
The christie 2k projection with real D for DI film out work and the Panasonic V25 for rec 709 hd mastering.

    Hi Darin,

How do you feed the output from the Resolve to the Christie 2K projector with RealD ?
