Mimic’ing anchor’d Animations
Hey there,
First time posting here so bare with me. I have been desperately looking across the web to find out how to imitate an animation very similar to one in this music video (Start point at 0:38) where the fellow seems to have his face melt within a pastel 90’s grime/goo animation.
I would assume the graphic would be made prior in photoshop or illustrator, but as far as what to do with it to make it flicker/morph is beyond me in after effects.
Much appreciated to any sort of help on this.

At least a couple of things:
– The melting face has been animated, it is not just one image, it is a sequence of drawn frames.
– Displacement mapping has been used to “melt” the whole image further. Probably utilizing the same footage some frames backward or forwards on a different, hidden layer selected as the Displacement Map for this footage.
– The other flickering goes so fast it is hard to tell what is going on there, but perhaps Colorama, some extremely rapid Exposure changes (possibly using a wiggle expression). And likely several additional effects.
