Ive been looking for info on this but haven’t had any luck, so apologies if its been answered before…

BMD has stated several times what the recommended GUI monitor resolution is for Resolve Mac. What I was wondering is what happens when Resolve runs on larger monitors, such as the soon to be shipping Apple 27″ display? Does Resolve work fine, but in an unscaled window? Does it crash (unlikely)?

I’m planning to put Resolve on my home Mac which serves as a swiss-army knife for video work. So while Resolve may not make use of a larger screen, the other apps I use definitely do.

    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hello Paul,

I had it running with a 30″ dell dual dvid set at 2560×1600. Everything seemed to run without issues. When I got my hand on the manual and set up docs I jumped to my apple cinema display and little dell for the scopes. It all seemed to worked, I just think black magic wants to avoid people trying things that havent been tried and tested.

I will be hooking up my 30″ back up very soon.

    I’m working on a 24″ 1920×1080. I’m used to working on a 1920×1200 – that’s a huge difference, believe it or not.

I’m not sure I’d go for a 30″ for the Resolve interface. I’m not looking so much on the interface as I’m looking at the result on the video monitor.

Unless you’re sitting miles away from the monitor or can’t control what’s going into the suite you’re working on, I’ll keep a safe bet on 24″ or so.

    Hi Paul,

I have just received the following information from the Resolve product manager, Peter Chamberlain, who is at IBC.

The minimum screen resolution is 1920×1080. The Resolve application interface is optimized for 1920×1200 but will also work at higher screen resolutions.

We haven’t tested on the yet to be released Apple 27″ display but would expect it to work fine. Resolve works fine on a 30″ display.
