  Finding an Eroding / Shatter Effect

  Greetings!

  Im here having trouble finding a tutorial for an erosion effect.

  I have two images and I want the “top” image to crack / erode away in order to reveal the layer underneath.

  Im not really looking for a “shattering” effect where pieces are flying

  I want to have this gold image slowly cracking away into the color image

  

  

  Please let me know How can I achieve this effect!

  Thanks for sharing that tutorial!

  I saw that while I was googling for tutorials, but I figured since its a Text effect It wouldn’t work for what I’m trying to achieve.

  Any advice on the steps I should take?

  You could apply it to what you’re doing. Although it uses shatter, it is still relatively controlled effect, not an explosion type shatter. It will make it look like your image is vertically on the wall, which would make sense. Some sort of erode where pieces don’t fall off will likely look like something is melting away. This might be a more convincing effect.

  I would just study that tutorial in detail and work out how it could be applied to your image. It doesn’t apply only to text.
