Ya’ll might think it’s a crazy need, but I picked it up animating in 3Ds Max.

Basically, I am getting tired of waiting for a 40 second comp of slow moving color washes to ram preview. In the past, in other apps, I render every nth frame (say, every 5 frames), to get a quick, low fidelity preview of the motion. Once that’s good, I render all the frames.

Anything like that in After Effects?

There’s a “Skip” pop-up menu in the Preview panel, allows you to skip 1,2 or 5 frames.

[Kalle Kannisto] “There’s a “Skip” pop-up menu in the Preview panel, allows you to skip 1,2 or 5 frames.”

It’s not restricted to the values in the list; you can also enter an arbitrary number of frames to skip in there directly.

    Ah Ha!

There it was, and all I had to do was open my eyes.

    Thank you
