  Simple question about importing items into AE

  Hi everyone…

  This has bugged me for years, but never to the point of researching an answer until now.
  When importing into AE, I double-click the Project panel to bring up the Import dialogue box. As I am digging within folders, sometimes when I double-click it opens the folder, other times it simply imports the entire folder. I have use for both of these results, but I have no idea how to control which will happen; it seems random as to whether or not the result is an import or simply drilling down further.
  Any help is greatly appreciated!

  PS: OS X 10.9.5; CC15, although this has persisted through many, many versions of AE
