  Compress an object on itself?

  Hello,

  I’m working on a compass rose, but I have a problem.
  When I add the secondary branches (those diagonally), I copy the group containing the main branches by reducing its size and tilting it at 45 ° (see left image).
  However this method makes secondary branches too fine in my opinion (see distance in yellow).
  I would like to keep the width “at the base” of the branches (distance in red) while having a length of branches as indicated by the orange distance.
  So it’s just about making the group of secondary branches cower by following the direction of the brown arrow, but I can’t figure out how to do it.

  You’ll need to add corner points at those eight locations where the edges meet (where your red arrows point). Easier to do if you lock the top object first. Once you have added the corner points, you can select all the points (where your brown arrows start, but all four of them) and scale them. Since it’s symmetrical, they will scale around the center correctly.
