  Cropping issues with Pathfinder tool in Illustrator CS5

  When creating a seamless pattern in Illustrator CS5, I am having problems when cropping the image using the Pathfinder tool. Unexpected solid boxes appear behind some of the images.
  Does anyone know why this happens?

  My guess would be that you have a solid white fill in the box that you are using for the pathfinder operation. Per my logic that would cause “extra” boxes. If so, try with no fill.
