  cut out a shape in clipping mask

  I made a clipping mask of a shape i drawed with the pen tool, ive flattended the image trying to make the clipping mask and the shape become one image, but now when i draw a new shape on top of the flattened image i can’t cut that new shape out. Is this possible to do, or should i rethink how to do this.
