As usual Illustrator has me pulling my hair out.

I have been trying to show / hide or lock / unlock multiple layers.

I have wasted at least a couple of hours trying to find an answer to this problem. So far all I can find is …

“Ctrl 3” and “CTRL Alt 3” to show / hide multiple layers. The only problem with this approach is that it appears to do absolutely nothing what so ever.

while I’m at it I also would like to be able to lock /unlock multiple layers.

Of course it goes without saying that Adobe couldn’t make this operation stupidly simple like every other Graphics software on the planet.

Can anyone please tell me how to accomplish this wildly difficult feat?

BTW, I am running this on a Windows 7 machine using Illustrator CS6 local install.

Try using the number 2, mister smarty pants.
    Seems simple enough for me.
