I recently completed a project in Illustrator Cs4 and sent my .ai file to the printing company (Disc Makers). When the printer sent me a .pdf proof I noticed some anomalies in the text, all instances of the letters “L” and “I” appear thicker and somewhat distorted. They also sent me a .jpg proof as well and it looks perfect. I was worried that perhaps there was an issue with my .ai file so I went ahead and created my own press quality .pdf file, it looked fine. I am not sure if it matters, the text was copied and pasted from a Word document into Illustrator, also I am on a PC and the print company uses Mac. I am concerned because the printer uses the pdf file to print. I am new to Illustrator so I am hoping it’s not something on my end. Has anyone else run it to this?

    Thank you for your help

Vector PDF proofs will often display this phenomenon. I’m sure if you zoom into (or test print) the proof you will see that it is just a display quirk.
