  Vectorizing symmetric logo: tips?

  I’ve got to convert a bitmap mandala to a vector representation. This mandala is symetrical on 2 axes, that is, it’s the same pattern rotated 90 degrees 3 times.

  I’d PREFER to do this in Photoshop, but I’d also like to do only ONE QUARTER of the thing since it repeats. But I know of no method to repeat a shape and merge them in PS, although Illustrator probably has the capability easier. I just don’t know Illustrator nearly as well.

  Should a just bite the bullet and use Illustrator, or is there a way to merge shapes in PS?

  It is much easier to merge shapes in PS. If its a “shape”, you’ll have to rasterize it first, duplicate them, adjust them to the positions you want, and flatten(Ctrl+E) them together. Whereas in Illustrator, you will have to duplicate, and and adjust, and use the pathfinder to merge them together. Kudos!
