  Illustrator Question

  Why can’t you apply a gradient to character as a fill. I’ve been trying to recreate a lightwave render in illustrator but for some reason no matter what color do I change the gradient, the fill stays black. I have tried other colors and they work just fine, gradient works just fine on other objects but characters, just seem to stay black no matter what I do to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  Try Type/Create Outlines. After that it should work. HTH
