  opening a file in Illustrator

  I’m trying to batch process a lot of psd images in Illustrator. The images are all at 1024×576, but when Illustrator opens them it automatically makes the artboard A4 portrait and cuts off the sides of the images. Is there any way of getting Illustrator to open psd files at their saved resolution?
