  Distribute layers

  In illustrator, I am trying to distribute objects to layers. When I do it, it creates sublayers to the original object.

  How do you distribute to independent layers? Or one I have sublayers how can I make those independent layers?

  You can select those sublayers in your layers palette and drag them above your master layer. They will become individual layers.
