  Making grayscale PDF

  Hey everyone
  I’m trying to make a grayscale PDF file
  I have taken a grayscale picture in photoshop and saved as a PDF
  but even though the picture is grayscale, the PDF is CMYK

  So I’ve tried doing it in Illustrator, but only color modes for document there are CMYK & RGB

  If anyone know how to do this, I need to make a PDF file (ver 1.2 or 1.3) that will be grayscale (preferably with a picture inside it)
  I have the the entire creative suite and also Quark 5 (but my knowledge in non-photoshop programs is very limited)
