  save for web in the selected marquee area only

  Is there a way to save for web or export for jpg only what is currently highlighted with the marquee tool? normally I have to first crop the entire image first. or copy visible area that is highlighted, then open a new document, then paste, then save or export for web. was trying to reduce a few steps.

  You can create a slice with the slice tool and export for web, selected slice only.

  got it. and is there a easy way to create a slice based on an already existing shape?

  Sorry, haven’t been here for a while…

  If the shape in question is on it’s own layer, you can use the “new layer-based slice” function.
