  • Issue with “Merge 3D Layers”

I found a great tutorial for a film noir title card. The problem is that the guy is using the newer version of Photoshop. I’m on CS5. When I get to the step to “merge 3d layers” to combine my 2 layers the background layer gobbles up the first one. It has missing layer listed as a “sub layer”, if that’s the right term, but it visually disappears. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

One layers is text that’s been made 3d and the other is a textured background. I’m trying to combine them and add a light so that the spotlight will create shadows from the text onto the background. He has wonderful instructions in the video, but some of the tools/options are different on the older version I’m running.

    Thanks for any help!
