Time Remap layer to comp duration with expression
I have a simple task that I can’t seem to figure out. I need to time remap a video footage layer to the duration of the comp. I need to do this through expression as I am automating the process of creating multiple comps. I suspect it is quite simple but my searches have not turned up anything.
I could also do this by time remapping to the duration of a certain layer in the comp if that is easier.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. We have been doing it this way for 2 years, just manually moving the keyframe, just looking for a way to automate that. I’m not too worried about frame rate because the “footage” is basically a fancy slideshow, mostly static with some transitions, and the range it would need to be remapped to is between 35 and 45 secs, not enough to make a big difference.

maybe something like:
a=thisLayer.source.duration;
b=thisComp.duration;
(a/b)*time…on the time remmap property?

Just watch out with frame rates mismatches, I’m not sure how it will behave on those cases.

The calculation will be fine. The duration property counts seconds (with decimals as necessary), not frames, so there’s never a mismatch across different timebases.
