  opening 16bit images in Layers

  I created a sequence in Apple Motion and I want to export a single frame to use in a Photoshop project.

  I am exporting from Motion as a 16bit Tiff (I also tried PSD) with an alpha channel. When I open the image in Photoshop it has a solid background!

  When I use the same setttings — but change the output to 8 bit — it does show a transparent background.

  How can I open a 16bit image with an alpha layer in PS CS3 so it has a transparent background?
