Pixelated illistrations
Hi. I have been messing around with photoshop cs2 and piantshop pro 7, for a few years now, but nothing serious. I make simple artwork, wallpapers, etc. However, just recently, my friend started her own business and asked me to design a logo and business card for her. I did this and took it to Kinko’s to get printed out. They told me it was too pixelated. I took it back home, (I have it saved in layers) resaved in maximum quality, jpeg, as they said, and took it back…. still it is pixelated. I do not know what I am doing wrong, I have now failed 5x at getting it so it does not print out with pixelations. Oh,and all the work has been done using adobe photoshop cs2. Please, can you help me? Thank you.

You are likely working with the default 72dpi setting in Photoshop. For printing cards, etc., most print shops want 300dpi.

Check your resolution. It should be a t least 200 ppi, I would suggest 300 ppi. If you are doing it as 72 dpi, it will always look pixelated no matter how you save it. If you’ve already created it in Low-Res, you can’t just change the resolution. You need to create it in the right resolution at the start.

Thank you both so very much. You were right I was saving it in the default setting, I was not even aware I needed to change it. 🙂 I will recreate the new one and hope that works, But I do know I have been using the default. Again thank you so very much.

I’m certainly not the best around but I just happened to be reading a book about graphics and here is what I know. What the other posters told you will work but if you are creating a logo for a business you might want to create it as a vector graphic. Photoshop, as far as I know, is only for raster graphics. The difference is, vector graphics are math based and will not pixelate no matter the size, from a business card to a store sign. Adobe Illustrator is a vector program.
