  levels adjustments: input versus output

  What is the difference between input levels and output levels adjustments? When moving the sliders, it’s like the input is simply the opposite of the output. However, when adjusting some images, there are times that being an opposite of the other is not just the only difference, but I can’t tell exactly what. Can you tell me where exactly the output and input are used for?

  Input is where you adjust what is coming in….

  these can be used to darken shadows, pop whites, or tweak mid points.

  Output is like a clamp that sets the minimum black and maximum white
