  Photoshop CS3 Prints Too Dark

  I have an Epson 3800 Photo Pro printer. Both Epson and Adobe manuals advise letting Photoshop control the color. However, the output with Photoshop controlling the color always is substantially darker than what I see on my calibrated monitor. However, when I let the printer control the color, the results are much better. Does anyone know what it is I may be doing wrong as, in the past, with other printers, the results have been just fine?

  You must always choose color mode: CMYK for printing and RGB is for Websites.

  Whether I use CS3 or printer ( Epson Stylus C86 ) management, printed photos invariably come out much darker than the scan on the monitor.
  By increasing brightness on a trial and error basis this effect can, of course, be largely eliminated. I wonder, however, whether a one to one print can be achieved more easily and accurately.
  Any help ? Thank you
