    Hi –
    Stupid question I know – can anyone give a step by step for creating alpha channels in photoshop for importing into AE? Tried photoshop help and its no help!

    Make a selection of the pixels you want the alpha channel to display.

    Save the selection to a new channel and don’t give it a name.

    Done.

    Hi –
    Thanks for the reply – I made the alpha in PSD (which looked red in the channels palette) but when I imported it into AE I didn’t get the option box to import the alpha or not (ie straight or premulitiplied) does this mean the alpha didn’t import with the file?

    Could be the preferences are set to automatically make a best guess.
