Trying to copy from an image file in which I have masked out something I want to past into another image.
Both images are open in PS cc

I’m sure I must have known how to do this at some point but the old noodle has let it go bye bye.
Googling for this information is turning out to be a bit harder than one might think.
Piles of stuff about masking comes up, and pasting into a mask no shortage… but the way I want isn’t so easy.

Hopefully someone can tell me how its done. I realize I could go the other way round pretty easily but some times it just makes sense to go this way.

You can simply drag the masked layer into the second document (which I like for added flexibility of keeping the mask for possible refinement), or, if you really want to copy/paste, make a selection of the mask (on Windows, I think that’s ctl-click on the mask thumbnail in the Layers palette), then copy, switch to second document, paste.

It is easier to destroy than to create.
    More fun, too.
