Photoshop Action to change 16×9 to 4×3 Letterbox Image
I am usually pretty handy with the photoshop action and batching those actions, but I can’t set this one up right. I want to take my 16×9 images .JPG and import/place them into my 4×3 image, letterbox and then send back to a new folder labeled 4×3. Pretty simple task, but for some reason, every different way I try to set it up, manages to screw up the process. So, not sure what to do?? I have about 100 images I want to run through this batch action and would love to figure out what sequence I need to create to get this done right. Thanks!

I’m assuming both your 16X9 and 4X3 are maintaining a square pixel aspect ratio? Instead of moving the 16×9 to a new image, just set up an action that opens the 16×9 and makes a layer out of it. Then create a new layer, fill with black, and move it below the image layer. Select the 16×9 layer, scale uniformly 57%, then set canvas size to 720×534. Add in a Save As… to your new folder in the batch process and you should be good to go.
