  Lasso Hell – Sharp Edges !

  I’m trying to lasso an area of a picture.
  When I lasso and feather the selection, the edge come out sharp with a slight feather / shadow.
  Nothing like it should be. Image is 8 bit.

  Any clues why this atrocity happens ?
  Using a soft brush to matte the area yields pretty similar gruesome edge.

  This is not unexpected behavior. Have you tried putting a solid color behind it? When it blends it shouldn’t be as gruesome 🙂

  You can try adjusting the lasso properties by clicking the refine edge button found in the menu options for that tool. Note: tool most be active for this menu to be visible(in upper left corner). When the window opens you will see options like smooth and feather etc… Hope this helps!
