  unable to save TIFF as JPG

  I have a very large TIFF file, specifically 3.5 gigabytes. 8 bit. no layers. I want to save it as a smaller compressed JPG. It will only save as PS RAW or Large Format Document. When I copy and paste the image into a new document I only have these save options plus TIFF. I’ve tried copying the file on the desktop and opening in PS CS5 and doing a “save as” without success. Any ideas about this? Is there a maximum file size for JPGs? Smaller files “Save As” to many formats, including JPG. My real issue is the file size. Can I compress TIFFs so they are not so big?

  Change it no 8 bit.
