    Hi all,

I want to create the effect of a picture, that when seen from a distance it looks like a photo, but when looking closer it is composited from dozens of small square photo’s.

The effect is known as “photo mosaic.” There are various Photoshop-only techniques as well as any number of plugins and filters, free and for-pay. Google it.

Thanks. I google for Photo Mosaic photoshop, but I ended up with a free stand-alone application that does the job for me: AndreaMosaic

Quite powerful tool and does the job right.

Thanks for giving me the right search term to look for
