    Hi

I don’t really know where to ask this question elsewhere then at the wonderful creativecow forums. I need to know a certain drawing technique. I got an example witch I think shows the technique quite good.

    Here it is

Its about the guy. He is drawn in black with only the highlights in white (in this case transparant).

    How is the called?

    Thanks for any help

One way to do this in Photoshop would be Threshold (Image/Adjustments/Threshold). Although, depending on the resolution of your source image, the edges may become jaggy.

I suspect this image was created in Illustrator because of the smooth edges.

I already thought it should be made in Illustrator. But actually I am trying to find out what its called. My first thought was that it is Two Tone art. But that isn’t true since two tone also consist out of other colors than only black and white.

I am specificly searching for the name of the technique actually.

PS. That Youtube video was pretty handy. I didn’t used Illustrator very often in the past. But since a couple of months I am working more and more with it and this one teached me yet another useful feature. Thanks

It’s not vector art. Thats just a simple explaination of how to achive the result. I just need to know how you call the illustration technique of combining an image with lots and lots of highlights and shadows in an image with sort of two tone stuf.
