  Photoshop Create a 2.35:1 anamorphic image for video use?

  I’m trying to create a slide show for a friend of mine that owns a portable outdoor cinema screen and dvd player. She needs to have the slide show with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (anamorphic). I’ve done lots of research and I can’t make heads or tails of it.

  Here is what I know. In the past in order to create a non-square pixel image in photoshop for dvd you need 1st create or crop image to 720×540 pixels. Then when you brought it into Final Cut or After Effects you could squeeze the pixels on output to 720×480.

  My Questions:
  What is the correct amout of pixels for 2.35:1 (anamorphic) image in photoshop (i.e 720x? or 800x?) ? Is the 2.35:1 pixels square or non-square pixel aspect ratio? In photoshop CS2 I see 720×480 or 720×480 (widescreen), one uses .9 aspect ratio and the widescreen uses 1.2 – what does the 2.35 (anamorphic) use?

  Could someone give me a basic understanding and a possible place to start?

  Look at the Nonsquare presets in the New Menu for either PS CS or CS2

  Both list the Pixel Aspect Ratios in a pulldown menu as well
