• Adobe After Effects

  Render time drastically changed after reformat.

  I bought a newly built PC, installed Windows 7, got Adobe and immediately started editing my film.

  I rendered the final sequence on After Effects and it took 30 mins!
  Everything was just suprisingly fast and I didn’t even tweak any settings.
  

  Months later, I was forced to reformat my PC because of a malware.
  I backed up my film and transferred it to the newly reformatted PC with the same software installed.

  But now, the same project now renders for 2 hours and everything is basically slow now.
  

  Can someone please tell me what the hell might have happened? Am I missing something? I desperately need help.

  1. how did you format it? you can install windows again and it won’t delete malware unless you format the partition itself.

  2. you probably have render multiple frames turned on in prefs

  3. mem settings in ae aren’t optimal

  4. your paging file should be auto managed by windows and it should be on your ssd(as well your ae cache)

  5. you haven’t finished installing your motherboard drivers

  Yup. I purged everything, hoping that I could start anew.

  I have no idea if that was the reason why it worked before but I doubt it because I just tried it a while ago it’s still slow (I even received a RAM error saying that I need more RAM even though I successfully rendered everything before the format ((even compositions in 1920×20000)))

  Umm..please elaborate into detail? Not new to editing, but new to tweaking. (Though the miracle 30minute-renders wasn’t the result of tweaking which is baffling)

  What seems to be missing? I’ve installed the same drivers before the format and even updated all of them (I didn’t before the format).
