Is there any way to create an Action, or possibly a script (??), that would place guides at a given distance from each edge of the image, for ANY size image?

(This was possible on my old Amiga since ALL applications shared the same macro language– twenty years later and we still don’t have that in my OS. Hmph. “Progress”.)

You could change your rulers to perecentages first.

Tehn record the action and use percentages

That is a cool feature, and I’m sure I’ll find a use for it thanks to you, but doesn’t it still leave me with a problem if I want to have 10pxl border guides around all my different resolution pictures?

But thanks for the tip: I didn’t know you could do that!

    Well….

You Could Create an Action Like This
    FIRST set ruler to pixels

    1. Select > All
    2. Select > Modify> Border and specify 10 pixels
    3. Create a New Layer and Name it Guide
    4. Load a color you like
    5. Choose Edit Stroke
    6. Lower Opacity

Again not exactly.. but another option
