  • Background Render prevents After Effects CC 2014 from re-opening, crashes it

I love BG REnderer Pro script by Lloyd Alvarez – it allows me to render parts of my AE CC 2014 project in the background, without even impacting performance while I keep working in AE on other parts. Super efficient.

I noticed one problem though. If the background render is in progress, and I quit AE, all is good.

But if I then want to open AE again – either blank or an existing project – it looks like its process tries to start but never does show on screen.

Then, after the background render is over, each of my attempts to open AE pops up as an error “AE crashed”.

Shouldn’t I be able to reopen AE when background render is in progress? Looks like a bug to me.

(BTW, otherwise CC 2014 seems to be working ROCK SOLID, way better than CS5 on complex scenes, not a single crash so far while working it, yay! 🙂 Bravo, Todd and the team.)
