  How to move layers that fall outside the bounds of your comp

  Sometimes when I copy a layer from one comp and paste it into another shorter comp, my new layer falls outside the timeline bounds of my new shorter comp. Since the layer isn’t visible within the comp’s bounds, I’m unable to grab and slide it into the position I want. Is there a trick for grabbing a layer that lies outside the timeline bounds of a comp? Also, is there a trick for forcing a layer to begin at the comp’s start time? Thanks!

  Ctrl+Alt+V (or Cmd+Opt+V on a Mac) pastes a layer at the CTI (playhead) instead of its original starting time.

  The square bracket keys [ and ] move a selected layer’s in point or out point to the CTI.
