  • Replace a word with another word.

Hi! Long time reader first time poster.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to replace a word with another word character by character. I would like for it to behave a little like the typewriter preset but I would prefer if it behaved more as if I key framed the sourceText.

    So for instance:

the first frame would be something like

    stegosaurus

    next

    stpgodaurus

    next

    sipgodocrus

    next

    dipgodocus

    finally

    diplodocus

    Does that make sense?

Just change one word to another character by character in random positions.

I’ve been looking everywhere for something like this…

I’m not looking to have any random letters appear or any fade ups or anything. Just switching the letters in a word randomly into another word.

    Thanks heaps for your help!!

Thanks so much for the response Scott!

That’s very cool and I think it will be helpful but doesn’t quite accomplish what I’m trying to do.

I’m hoping I can have the user enter in the two words maybe using thisComp.name.split(” – “)[0] and have it automagically animate from one word to the next character by character in a random way.

I think I’ll definitely use the technique you suggest in the toolkit though so thank you very much for the help!!
