  Expression for phone texting animation.

  I am working on a show that has LOTS of texting and text messaging shots, something that is a real pain to animate all the letters being tapped. I have made a neat little texting template that, with sliders and expressions, animates this pretty well, but I think it can be made even more streamlined.

  My ultimate goal is to be able to enter a line of text into a text layer and than with a slider control animate the button “pop” that corresponds to the letters in the text.

  I have my button “pops” set up like a standard mouth rig for facial animation. That comp is time remapped to a slider. I than animate the slider to make the buttons type, but I am trying to figuring out a way to automate the process.

  My question is do you know of an expression that links source text to a numeric value, like A=1 B=2 etc.?
  Or an expression that can spot specific characters in a line of text?
