  • OSX Dock Magnify style expression, How do I add an ease or minimum scale speed for fast scrolling?

    I found this great script on this site for a OSX dock expression. I modified it slightly for my needs and it’s Almost perfect I just need one last part I can’t figure it out!

    This is the script:

    mouse_layer = thisComp.layer(“mouse layer”);
    beginScale = 86.4;
    endScale = 100;
    beginDistance = 1500;
    endDistance = 0;
    dis = length(this.position, mouse_layer.position);
    val = ease_out(dis, beginDistance, endDistance, endScale, beginScale);
    [val, val]

    This works Great except unlike the OSX dock I want mine to have a minimum speed each layer will scale down or an ease thats not tied to the position of my “mouse_layer”. Basically if my null is moving really fast the ones it passed slam down, it would be great for them to float back down after the null passes.

    The scale up is great, when it’s moving slow it’s great, it’s just the fast scroll.

    Thanks guys!!!!

    mouse_layer = thisComp.layer("mouse layer");
    beginScale = 86.4;
    endScale = 100;
    beginDistance = 1500;
    endDistance = 0;
    dis = length(this.position, mouse_layer.position);
    val = ease_out(dis, beginDistance, endDistance, endScale, beginScale);
    [val, val]
