  fade opacity into last keyframe of position

  I have many layers whose position is already keyframed.
  i need an expression for opacity that fades out the layer a certain number of frames, based on a slider control, into the last position keyframe.
  I guess I need a conditional.
  Any ideas, great minds?

n = position.numKeys;
if (n > 0){
d = framesToTime(fadeFrames);
t = position.key(n).time;
ease(time,t-d,t,100,0)
}else
value
