  After Effects Multiprocessing – Newbie

  Hello everyone hope you’re well, recently I have been working on my latest project. Everything is almost complete, just rendering & authoring remains.

  I am interested on using Multiprocessing and it’s a complete new area in which I have not used before.

  My desktop PC has the following spec:-

  Intel Core i7 4770k @ 3.50GHz
  16GB DDR3
  3GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 GPU

  I have set AE on the following settings:-

  Installed RAM: 15.9GB
  RAM reserved for other applications: 3GB
  RAM shared by:- AE & Media Enocder – 12.9GB

  After Effects Multiprocessing settings:-

  Installed CPUs:- 8
  CPUs recerved for other applications:- 0
  RAM allocation per background CPU:- 2GB
  Actual CPUs that will be used:- 2

  Can someone please check if I have set everything correctly, are there any rooms for improvements?

  P.S. Can someone explain what does “RAM allocation per background CPU mean?”

  You need to set the RAM allocation per CPU until the number of CPUs being used reflects the number of physical cores on you CPU. You might also need to adjust the number of CPUs reserved for applications to get the number of processors used to 4. Does that make sense? I believe Todd Kopriva suggested this in a thread once or maybe it was at an AE meeting.

  Hello Jason thanks for you’re response, sorry but I haven’t fully understood what you have mentioned.
  My PC has 8 core should I adjust the settings to the following:-
