After Effects CC slow render
Hi,
Could someone tell me what the ‘real world’ recommended system requirements are for AE CC?
I have what i thought should be sufficient in the HP zbook 17 (2.4Ghz + 32GB RAM), but i’ve recently downloaded an AE template (similar to this https://www.revostock.com/After-Effects-Project/961872/Our-Kodak-Wedding-Memories.htm) which is laboriously slow to render. It’s virtually new laptop, so there is plenty of disc space (cache set to 100gb)
Please dont tell me laptops arent ideal, i know this already, but because of company policy no one is allowed PCs! :-/

Have you enabled multiprocessing? If so, what are your settings?
I generally recommend leaving a quarter of your total RAM free for other applications, and half your CPU cores on hyperthreaded systems like yours as a starting point.

Thanks for replying, i’ve done the following:
1. Enable disc cache, with max. disc cache size of 150gb, and the location as C/Users/username/appdata/local/temp
2. RAM for AE is set to 28.3GB, leaving 3GB reserved for other applications.
3. AE Multiprocessing – I’ve checked the box which says “Render multiple frames simultaneously”. The box called “Only for render queue, not for RAM” remains unchecked.
Installed CPUs:8
CPUs reserved for other applications: 1
RAM allocation per background CPU: 2GB
Actual CPUs that will be used: 7 -
