Creating a simple expression/preset to position from left to right without fixed beginning and ending points.
I have been using kinetic typography to create lyric videos for bands over the last year or so. My basic work flow is as follows:
Create comp
Add each word on its own layer and position them in the final ending spots.
Then ill jump forward a few frames add a position keyframe and an opacity keyframe.
Go back a few frames and have the text come in from either the bottom, top, left, right, etc.I decided I would try to make my own preset that allows me to just click in this animation, however when I add the expression to a new layer it moves it back to the original beginning and ending position of the text when I initially created the preset.
I have been using after effects for a while and am comfortable with the program however I am brand new to expressions and presets. Here is a link to some work so you can get an idea of how I am trying to animate the text in.

If you want to save an animation preset for just the expression on a property then make sure that property doesn’t have any keyframes.
