I’ve got 80+ layers that somehow (due to a ‘bug’ in another script) does something really cool if each layer has a different in-point.

    Can AE 7 (or later) control a layer’s in-point? I will need to control the in-points based on a time-referenced conditional statement(s).

    TIA

You can’t change the in point with an expression, but you could use a time remapping expression to add an offset to the playback time. If you put the ranomizing expression on a slider, you could use the same offset value for the time remapping delay and to set the opacity to zero before the new “in point” and after the new “out point”, which seems like it would have the same effect as actually moving the in point.

/Hi Dan, yes I was thinking of the Time Remap thingy we did for broadcastGEMs but with 80+ layers I was hoping for a more elegant solution. But it looks like it’s worth a shout now.

On a side note, is it possible to convert Corner Pin data into X and Y rotation data? I’m thinking of converting tracked data into 3D orientation/rotation data cos these are more useful in real-world scenarios.

I think Corner Pin data from trackers is a baggage from days when compositors were not 2.5/3D savvy – sounds like a job for Space Transformation?

    Cheers

I think the math would be pretty complex for something like that. Beyond what you’d want to attempt with an expression, I’d guess.
