I want to have my camera following a null that a particle emitter is linked to on a minute long path through 3D space with lots of turns and quick movements. I googled and searched here and found one method that worked ok , using a few different nulls parented to each other… Which I still do not completely understand but I can see how it would make key framing easier.

I tried making the expression myself for the cameras position and point of interest and rotation and failed miserably , what I am trying to make is a expression to have the camera follow the null from a elevated position looking down and give it some orgranicness when the null begins the turn so the camera would not look so robotic and sort of swing out with it.

Could anyone explain or tell me where to get a good start learning how to do this ? Is it better to just use a few parented nulls and key frame all this out ?

This is for a project I am working on for just myself but I would really like to learn.

You could use .valueAtTime() like in this example, only in your point of interest, so there’s a slight delay to your camera following the object. That might look a little more natural.

Here’s an attempt at faking some acceleration in expression form:

Thanks 🙂 That worked out pretty well for having the camera follow along.. now I just need to make it look cooler.

I want to make the camera expression better but this will do for now 🙂
