Wiggle ony on the Y axis and only positive values
Posted by Heerko Groefsema on March 24, 2009 at 12:53 pmHello,
I’m in the process of making a bouncing telephone on a desk. For this I want the phone to bounce in the +y direction only. Does anybody know how to do this?
Thank you for your time!

March 24, 2009 at 12:59 pmjumpg up is actually going negative in Y,
so something like this:
w=wiggle(2,50);
y=Math.abs(w[1]); // the absolute value of y wigglevalue-[0,y];

It did seem to the job on the horn linked to the phone! Cool 🙂 But when I paste the code in the position of the phone itself. The phone is suddenly stuck in the top of my screen. Any ideas on what is causing this?

March 24, 2009 at 1:14 pmNo, that’s strange,
perhaps there is some parenting with scaling going on, but even then…
the ‘value’ part of the expression should make sure everything stays relative to ‘pre-expression’ position

March 24, 2009 at 1:15 pmIs it a 3D layer ?
this could be better then:
w=wiggle(2,50);
y=Math.abs(w[1]); // the absolute value of y wigglevalue-[0,y,0];

March 24, 2009 at 1:18 pmThere is no parenting or scaling goign on, it’s just very plain. Also no 3D layering.
When I switch of parenting of the horn, this stick to the top of the comp too.
I also tried your other expression, but this does the same.
I do also have wiggle expression on the rotation.

March 25, 2009 at 1:05 amSorry, my bad! wiggle includes the value, I was confused, use this:
w=wiggle(2,50)-value;
y=Math.abs(w[1]); // the absolute value of y wigglevalue-[0,y];

March 25, 2009 at 8:33 amAh yes that works as charm! Cool 😀
Sounds very logical what you say that the value is included in the wiggle, otherwise wiggle would be all over the place. Thank you very much! You made me happy 😀
