  • Can and expression be connected to a layer on another comp?

    Hey Guys,

Is there an expression i can use to have layers in one comp auto orient to a camera in another comp?

I have an effect where multiple instances of a layer are falling back in z space(like an 80’s music video effect). I have my duplicates in one comp and then i precomped it and using the collapse transformation button i am animating the fall back with the z scale. I want to be able to move the camera around but have each individual layer orient towards the camera on its own axis.

I hope that kind of makes sense.

    thanks
    Jon

Im not 100% sure this would work but its quick, easy and worth a shot, at the start of your code instead of “thisComp” try putting “comp(“name of comp”)”…then layer and so on.

yes it can be connected. Easiest way is to take ‘drag’ it with the mouse to the property in the other composition you want to linkt it to. So you don’t need to think too much about how this part expression has to exactly look like.

    good luck
    Gunnar
