Was there a tutorial…
I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere (I believe it was a text based article) where you had a row of dots that was replicated to form a grid. This grid then bent on a sine type wave and the dots rotated in 3D space accordingly to the wave, so the first dot was flat and as you trailed down the line they flipped so all you saw was the edge of the circles. I remember the dots being of a reddish hue on a lighter red background. Over time the dots followed there leader and bent and contorted to be almost a fluttering wave.
Has anyone else come across this tutorial I’m describing? I’ve gone through all my AE books and checked here. I think it would be a cool effect that I could adopt and tweak for my project but I can’t remember if it was done with expressions or not. I also can’t remember if it started with one circle and was replicated in AE or if it was a row or a whole grid.

This is sorta what I was thinking. I remember the tutorial being so that waves of dots undulated and you would see a side of the dots almost as if the dots were bending into 3D space. They may very well have been bending into 3D space.
I will check your other great tutorials Dan. Thanks for your help.
