  Linking layers in the timeline

  I have 3 layers. The middle layer is an animated wipe for a transition between the top and bottom layers. I want to drag the middle layer and have the top layer follow it. I want to provide this comp to a client. I would have the top and bottom layers hidden. This way the client just slides the only layer visible to determine where the transition occurs.

  Any ideas on an expression for this?

  Check Dan’s website (motionscript.com). It contains a large number of techniques how to approach this in the “follow the leader” section.

  Thanks…..but just can’t seem to locate the “follow the leader” section you refer to. Can you post a direct link?

  Came up with a scheme which works. It does not actually visably slide the layer, but it does delay the layer in time.

  I added ‘time remap’ to the layers I wanted to slip, and then added the following expression to the time remap properties:

  transition=thisComp.marker(1); // using marker 1 in comp to determinine transition
  time-transition;

  So now I just slide the marker and the movies begin at that point. It does not reflect any of the values in the time remap keyframes themselves.
