Using the decay expression to slow down and stop the “screen roll” preset
Hi!
I am new to the forum, and only slightly experienced in AE. I am creating some text that uses the screen roll animation preset. What I want it to do is gradually slow down and stop, with the text landing in the center of the screen. The resulting effect (coupled with a scrolling film frame) looks like a roll of flickering film that slows to a stop. I have tried using “decay = 0.7;” and tried different values to adjust the speed of decay, which works, but not as I expected. It also never completely stops.
Is there a better way to do this?? Maybe a different way to keyframe the properties so it slows down? I have also tried keyframing the “frequency” and “multiplier” values with no luck.
I appreciate any advice you guys can give. I see from glancing through the forum that everyone is extremely knowledgeable, so please share some with me!
Thank you!
